Aurillac Basin Comics Festival

Every year, the Festival BD du Bassin d’Aurillac brings together comic book enthusiasts for a not-to-be-missed event.

On the program: meetings with authors and illustrators, exhibitions, workshops and signing sessions to delight young and old alike. It’s the perfect opportunity to plunge into the captivating world of comics, talk with creators and discover unique works.

The Festival BD is back for its 11th edition on March 15 and 16, 2025! Organized by the Médiathèque du Bassin d’Aurillac, the event has plenty of surprises in store for comics fans and not just comics fans.

Organizing an event around comics? The idea of the Festival BD du Bassin d’Aurillac was born in 2012 during a discussion between the Médiathèque team and their elected representatives (Josiane Coste and Jean-Paul Nicolas). From the very first sketches, the project took shape in a spirit of cultural mediation, with the ambition of being accessible to as many people as possible. Free admission was thus established as a founding principle of the event, as was the desire to offer a genuine celebration of the 9th art… to which the authors responded directly!

Every year, between 20 and 30 of them make the trip to Aurillac for special encounters with readers.
In all, over 170 different authors have been welcomed in ten editions. We never wanted to increase this number,” explains Julien Segura, deputy director of the Médiathèque. The initial idea was to ensure a high quality of welcome for artists and visitors alike, while at the same time increasing the level of services and diversity of proposals.”
In conjunction with local bookshops, particular attention is paid to the plurality of genres on offer: from mainstream comics to independent comics, from children’s comics to “research” comics, from documentary comics to humor and fantasy…

Over the years, the range of activities and artistic events has expanded, offering an immersion into the world of comics that goes far beyond the album. We didn’t want the Festival to be just a comic book and signing fair,” says Julien Segura. We’ve always made sure to include workshops, shows, screenings, exhibitions and more in our programming. Local partnerships have been expanded, with events organized at the Théâtre d’Aurillac, Le Cristal cinema, Le Sismographe, La Loupiote…

Exhibition at the Stables, and not only...

This year, the Festival BD du Bassin d’Aurillac welcomes the exhibition“Du rock & des vagues” by author Riff Reb’s from March 13 to April 26, 2025 at Les Écuries, Jardin des Carmes, 15000 Aurillac.
The exhibition will be open from Tuesday to Saturday, 2pm to 6pm.

Public opening: Thursday March 13 at 6pm

Les Rencontres pro

Held on Friday March 14, the “Rencontres Pro” (professional meetings) are an opportunity to present the work of numerous authors to a panel of people with a direct or indirect interest in comics. This year, the Festival BD has teamed up with the Agence Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes-Livre et Lecture to offer a meeting with 4 comic book authors living and working in the region: Max Lewko, Aurélien Maury, Léah Touitou and Didier Tronchet.
