Description

Museum dedicated to the rural world in the 20th century: agriculture, trade, rural crafts, folk art and local history. Exhibition until 5 July: ‘The Pastourelles of the League of Auvergne and from the Massif central’. 3 exhibitions until 28 September: -‘Miniature Cantal’, models by Robert Goudergues, -‘Henri Favre, the 1950s of an advertising designer’, -‘Créations singulières’, the singular artists in the collection, And from 20 July, the exhibition ‘Fouchtra! The invention of the Auvergnat in 19th-century Paris’.
*RURAL TRADES AND BUSINESSES: the museum features fully restored workshops such as the 1920s smithy, the 1922s carpentry workshop and the 1930s clog-making workshop. The little bazaar evokes a tourist shop from the 1965–1970s, whilst other areas showcase the home distiller, the cooper, the woodcutter and the basket maker. *AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY: The collection traces the evolution of agriculture from the 1880s to 1965, from the manual era to the early days of motorisation. *FOLK ART: The museum displays works by local artists ‘inspired by the roadside’ and models made from reclaimed wood. In the museum’s other areas, works by unique, raw, naïve and unconventional artists—whether famous or unknown—mark the visitor’s journey. April: open Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 2pm to 5pm. May & June: open Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 2pm to 6pm. July & August: open every day from 2pm to 7pm. September: open Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 2pm to 6pm.
